Microsoft is progressively moving more features from the Windows Control Panel to the modern Settings app in Windows 11. This change is currently being tested in preview build 26276 for Windows Server 2025, and will be extended to normal Windows 11 users in future builds.
Initially, users have access to basic options related to pointer speed and accuracy under "Bluetooth and devices" > Mouse. There are also accessibility features allowing adjustments like changing the color and size of the mouse pointer for better visibility.
The upcoming update will incorporate additional mouse settings from the Control Panel into the Settings app. Previously, various mouse icons could only be customized via a complicated list in the Control Panel. Now, these adjustments will be presented in a more user-friendly manner in the Settings app.
New features include the ability to toggle pointer shadow and configure how quickly Windows recognizes double clicks. Users will also be able to adjust the mouse track length, showing previous pointer positions with time offsets.
These enhancements are also included in the server preview version under the Accessibility tab, with the full integration into Windows 11 anticipated shortly. In the long run, Microsoft aims to eliminate the Control Panel entirely.
