Microsoft has issued a warning regarding connectivity issues that may affect Windows Server 2025 domain controllers (DC) following a restart. According to their release health dashboard update, these servers might fail to manage network traffic correctly, leading to services or applications running on them either becoming inaccessible or experiencing incorrect access due to misconfigured ports or protocols.
This problem arises because, upon reboot, the domain controllers do not properly utilize the domain firewall profile, reverting instead to the standard firewall settings. Consequently, admins may face failed applications or unreachable services on the domain.
While Microsoft is working on a patch to resolve this issue, there is currently no official fix available. However, a workaround is recommended for administrators to follow each time a server is restarted: restarting the network adapter. This can be done manually or by setting up a scheduled task to automate the process whenever the server is rebooted.
