Dynamic updates are designed to enhance the Windows Recovery capabilities by updating the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE), also referred to as Safe OS updates, alongside updates for Setup binaries. These packages are typically applied to existing Windows images before deployment and include necessary corrections for Setup.exe binaries and improvements to the recovery environment. The package also ensures that Language Pack (LP) and Features on Demand (FODs) content are retained throughout the upgrade process. For instance, VBScript, which is currently part of Windows 11 24H2’s FOD, is a notable inclusion.
Microsoft’s latest release features updates exclusively targeting Setup and Recovery for Windows 11 version 24H2 and Windows Server 2025. The specifics of the updates are as follows:
KB5062839: Setup Dynamic Update for Windows 11, version 24H2 and Windows Server 2025, released on July 22, 2025. This update aims to improve the setup binaries utilized in Windows 11 installations and updates.
KB5063689: Safe OS Dynamic Update for Windows 11, version 24H2 and Windows Server 2025, also issued on July 22, 2025. This update enhances the features of the Windows recovery environment.
Both updates will be automatically downloaded and installed via the Windows Update channel. For manual installation, users can access the updates on Microsoft’s Update Catalog: KB5062839 and KB5063689.
