This dual-boot operating system supports earlier versions for local deployments and can be accessed via the Azure portal. It operates on new OS versions compatible with Windows Server 2025, ensuring ongoing support for the necessary drivers.
The latest release introduces significant enhancements for virtual machines. Users can now view dependent resources on a storage path prior to deletion and perform bulk operations to remove both the storage path and its dependencies seamlessly. Furthermore, Azure allows live updates on memory resources while the virtual machine is running, although compatibility with guest operating systems may require a restart in some cases.
The update brings a substantial change in the .NET Framework, with the new build version 8.0.20 significantly improving both ASP.NET Core and the .NET Runtime. Additionally, the default OS disk size for AKS virtual machines has been increased from 100 GB to 200 GB, supporting a broader range of containerized workload sizes.
