The openSUSE project is presently focused on a brand refresh with a goal to assert its unique identity separate from its parent organization, SUSE.
Designers from the community have been requested to propose designs for a revamped openSUSE logo. An open voting process has kicked off in order to assist the project hone down on a list of potential victors, with the final decision to be made by the project team itself.

But why is openSUSE looking for a new logo?

Think about it as though it’s striving for an identity that is “less business, more community.”
Once a winning logo is chosen, it won’t instantly replace the old one. The new logo will gradually make its presence known. The well-known “Geeko” lizard logo will still be in place (considering the large amount of existing promotional materials that feature it) during the transition period.
Conservationists will be pleased to hear the iconic openSUSE chameleon isn’t about to go extinct. All of the 30+ logos available in the vote are creative variations of the much-loved lizard.
