Microsoft is reminding administrators that they have only 90 days until the end of support for WSUS driver synchronization, which will cease on April 18, 2025. This change comes as part of Microsoft’s ongoing efforts to phase out Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) for driver updates.
Initially announced last year, this decision has been reiterated through the Windows Release Health Message Center. Microsoft specified that organizations utilizing WSUS for driver updates should prepare for this upcoming change, as the feature will be removed from the software’s functionality list.
In on-premises setups, drivers will still be accessible through the Microsoft Update Catalog, but importing them directly into WSUS will no longer be an option. As a result, users will need to consider alternative methods for driver distribution, including utilizing Device Driver Packages or opting for cloud-based services such as Microsoft’s Intune or Windows Autopatch.
