Microsoft is currently addressing issues related to Message Queuing (MSMQ) after the December 2025 Patch Tuesday update. This update has reportedly caused disruptions for enterprise applications and Internet Information Services (IIS) sites. Businesses are experiencing problems such as inactive MSMQ queues, failed writes, and misleading “insufficient resources” errors, despite adequate system capacity.
MSMQ is a Windows service designed to facilitate communication between applications via message queues, ensuring reliable messaging even when applications are offline. Its failure affects enterprise environments predominantly, with private users generally unaffected by these issues.
To mitigate the problems, Microsoft is advising organizations to reach out directly to their business support for workarounds or to roll back the updates. Although the company is working on a comprehensive fix, it does not yet have a timeline for its completion, leaving IT admins to navigate these issues until further notice. They recommended contacting support for assistance with the workaround.
