Microsoft is testing a new "Advanced Settings" page for Windows 11, which could be a rebranding of the current ‘For Developers’ settings. This new page aims to integrate features beneficial to all users, not just developers. Notable functionalities include enabling long path support in File Explorer, which addresses the existing 260-character limit on file paths.
Currently, users encounter errors when attempting to transfer files with paths longer than the set limit. With the new toggle named "MAX_PATH," Microsoft intends to remove this restriction, allowing users to manage longer file paths without issues.
The Advanced Settings page also includes management options for ‘Virtual Workspaces,’ which let users create isolated environments on their PCs. This expands the capabilities of virtualization, allowing for running virtual machines or containers securely.
Although this feature is presently limited to Windows Server, there are expectations that it will be available to Windows 11 users in upcoming updates. The release is anticipated in the coming months alongside Windows 11’s 24H2 update.
